Water in Sharjah: what the process has to deal with
In a factory the question is rarely whether water is drinkable. It is whether it will leave spots on bottles, scale in a steam generator, react with an ingredient or foul a membrane further down the line. Network water and well water both vary, and a process that runs every day needs the same quality every day.
Food and beverage lines need water that is safe for product contact and stable in taste. Packaging, printing and coating plants use rinse and process water that must not leave residues. Questions buyers ask
Does a food factory in Sharjah need RO water?
Not always, but many do. RO gives consistent, low-mineral water for ingredients, beverages and rinsing, which keeps taste and product quality stable. Where the source is already good, filtration, softening and UV may be enough. The water analysis and the product decide.
Can rinse and washing water be reused?
Often, yes. Water from rinsing and washing lines can be filtered, treated and returned to the same duty or to less critical uses. How much is recoverable depends on the contaminants and the quality the reuse point needs.
What feed water does a steam boiler need?
At least softened water with low suspended solids, so hardness does not form scale in the boiler. For higher pressures, RO, demineralisation or EDI lower dissolved salts further. Boiler type and pressure set the target.
How is food processing wastewater treated?
Fats, solids and organic load are reduced in stages, typically screening and physical or chemical separation followed by biological treatment such as MBBR. The plant is sized from the flow and a sample analysis of the effluent.
