FAQ

Questions buyers ask

What wastewater plants does AFG manufacture?

Physical, chemical and biological plants for industrial and domestic wastewater, including packaged MBBR systems. Plants are designed to meet discharge limits and, where it makes sense, to produce water for reuse. The process route is chosen from the wastewater composition, flow and the target quality.

What is an MBBR system?

A moving bed biofilm reactor keeps plastic carriers moving in an aerated tank. Bacteria grow on the carriers and break down the organic load. It is compact and handles changing loads well, which suits packaged plants. It can be extended by adding carriers or tanks when the load grows.

What capacity is shown for wastewater?

AFG supplied a packaged MBBR system for an appliance factory in Karachi treating 5,000 m³/day. Other plants are sized from their own flow and load. Industrial wastewater varies a lot between factories, so each design starts from sampling and lab analysis of the actual effluent.

Do you supply packaged sewage treatment plants for buildings?

Yes, for domestic wastewater. AFG manufactures packaged MBBR plants that treat sewage from buildings and developments, sized from the daily flow and load of the site. Large municipal sewage works are outside our range. Our article on packaged MBBR wastewater treatment plants explains how they are specified.

What do you need to design a wastewater plant?

Flow, the wastewater source and composition (for example COD, BOD, suspended solids, oils), the discharge limits or reuse target and the space available. Lab results from a sample are the best start. If you plan to reuse the treated water, tell us for what, as reuse sets a stricter target than discharge.
