FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Why does arsenic have to be removed from drinking water?

Long-term exposure to arsenic in drinking water is a health risk, so drinking water standards set a low limit. AFG's municipal plants are designed to bring arsenic from ground and surface water down to drinking-water limits, meeting TS 266 and WHO criteria.

Which technology is used for arsenic removal?

Arsenic removal usually combines oxidation with adsorption or coagulation and filtration, and the right route depends on the arsenic form, iron content and pH of the water. AFG selects the process from the raw water analysis and adds PLC control and automatic backwashing.

What capacity has AFG built for arsenic removal?

The Manisa municipal drinking water plant on this site treats 9,225 m³/day with an arsenic, iron and manganese removal unit. New plants are sized for the population or demand they serve. The design also allows for seasonal changes in the source water and for how the treated water is stored and distributed.

What water analysis is needed?

Total arsenic and, if possible, its form, plus iron, manganese, pH, hardness, conductivity and turbidity. These values decide the oxidation step, the media and the backwash design. Several samples taken over time give a more reliable picture than a single test, especially for wells.
